The Rising Project is a creative climate studio based in the University of Oregon’s School of Journalism and Communication. After Directing this group for two years, I am excited to share our Practical Sustainability Zine. This project aims to target a breadth of interests among curious, empathetic humans who want to learn about ways to live more sustainably. With our team mascot, Delta Dude, we can represent the change we wish to see in the world starting with a simple phrase: “I can do that!”

Rising Project 2023: Practical Sustainability Merch Campaign

We are a climate studio challenging the way that things have always been done. By starting with something that already exists in the industry, merch, and proving that it can be done better, we can find creative solutions to longstanding practices.
Advertising students with an interest in environmentalism are struggling to find ways to integrate positive activism into the advertising world. Rising wants to show actionable ways for students to get involved.
Through a social campaign featuring design, written work, photo, and video production on Instagram, Youtube, and our website, we can share our vision with the world.

In spring 2022, we created a timeline to highlight some notable environmental moments in history–both good and bad–and represent the change in global surface temperature over time.

Sometimes the best way to fight climate anxiety is with music. The increased frequency and severity of weather events due to climate change lead to a constant feed of news. True facts about climate change can be terrifying.
The work being done to fight the climate crisis is crucial, though not all of it is so intense. New studies report that humor and listening to others are incredible tools when trying to learn about and educate others on climate change.
Rising Spotify has one simple goal: bring joy to uplift science in a world teeming with uncertainty.
